The Security Officer Training Academy Program (SOTAP) is a Coastal International Security Inc. sponsored Federal Security Officer Course dedicated to help experienced Military, Law Enforcement, and Armed Security acquire GSA/DHS credentials in a 5-week period at the Coastal’s 40,000 square foot training facility, the Protective Services Training Academy, also known as The PSTA. Benefits of participating in this program includes:

  • Sponsored Training (FREE!)
  • Compensation for trainings completed
  • Obtain regionally (NCR) recognized Federal Security Officer Certifications and Licenses
  • Successful candidates will be offered employment and opportunity to work at one of Coastal’s Government Contracts (DoD, DHS, DoS) in the DC, MD, VA area which includes the following benefits:

o    Base pay ranging from $24/hr to $30/hr + H&W

o    Medical & Dental Benefits

o    A group 401K Plan

o    Pad vacation, sick, and family leave

To qualify for this program, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a minimum of 3yrs experience in Military, Law Enforcement, or Armed Security Officer
  • Active DoD Security Clearance preferred
  • Must be able pass background check, Physical Exam, and Drug Screening
  • Must be able to participate in the Orientation Class on MAY 15th, 2017
  • Must be able to attend and successfully complete ALL scheduled training with The PSTA (check training calendar below for specific dates and times)

General Coastal Requirements


Minimum requirements to become a Professional Security Officer with Coastal:

  • Must be 21 yrs. of age
  • US citizen
  • Minimum 3 yrs. military/security/corrections/police officer exp. within the past 5 yrs.
  • Some contracts require officers who have at least 60 college credit hours (must provide official transcript to work on the contract with training).

Pass this information on to qualified officers who will be reliable, customer service oriented, have command of the English language, and will represent the company well.

Keep in mind interviews are weighted heavily. Remember to bring all security officer credentials with you to include:

  • Proof of training/certifications-to include: copies of training completion- FPS Basic, X-Ray, refresher, DCJS, DC-SPO, MD signed range roster, etc.
  • Current qualifications and proof of /MEB/First Aid/CPR Cards

Coastal currently employs over 2,200 security professionals through ongoing client contracts. With the constant development of new clients and projects, employment opportunities with Coastal are excellent. In addition to security officers, we also employ construction surveillance monitors (overseas positions), management and administrative support.

Many security officer applicants have military or civilian law enforcement experience. While this is a plus, it is not a necessary qualification for employment with Coastal. Often we find individuals with no such experience who perform just as well when trained by our instructors.

Specialty positions, such as construction surveillance monitors, require significant training and experience.
